According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and The Centers For Disease Control, the prevalence of obesity is higher among black american women at every age compared with every other gender or racial/ethnic group. It’s not big bones ladies…big bones don’t make you sick. Our rates of diabetes, breast and cervical cancer, obesity, heart disease (and for black men, prostate cancer), is much higher than whites and it is MAINLY BECAUSE OF LIFESTYLE. Essence and Ebony magazine addresses this issue several times a year in the attempt to WAKE UP BLACK AMERICA and get us to change our lifestyle behaviors. Our diet STILL consists of what I call the “Slave Diet” … we’re still voluntarily eating the food that was originally forced upon us to degrade. Pig parts (pigs feet, pigs intestines aka “chitterlings”, pigs…..and oh my God it just goes on and on. Blacks don’t tolerate pork the way whites do. It affects them too but it hurts us worse and faster. Add to this the SAD (diet), the STANDARD AMERICAN DIET (processed food loaded with chemicals that are also making us SICK. Generation after generation we do this to our children and they pass this self-hatred and self abuse on to the next generation. Africans from the various countries in Africa (don’t believe the media, they’re not all starving) are so much healthier than Black Americans because their diet consists largely of a plant based diet and small portions of “clean” meat” (not pumped full of chemicals like in the USA) . As a Black American female I have decided to be a part of the solution and I created SoulFitness Divas to inspire other black American women with my testimony (and anyone else who’s sick and tired of being sick and tired) to take charge of their health and to embrace a wellness lifestyle. It is my hope that many will listen.

Day in and day out we come in contact with people who are craving help and guidance with their health, but for reasons previously mentioned, simply did not act.
