Senior Fitness Guru – Level 2 Video

July 28th, 2010 -- Posted in Healthy Diet | No Comments »

http://www.reneburton.com
Rene Burton is a senior citizen whose personal mission is to change popular misconceptions about aging. In her exercise DVD trilogy, “Healthy Aging: It’s Never Too Late” which is specifically designed for use by seniors age 55 and over, she seeks to redefine what seniors are and what seniors can be called upon to do. The first DVD is Level 1 and intended for beginners. Level 2 is for seniors at the intermediate level of exercise ability. Level 3 features an advanced level exercise regime. Each of these exercise DVDs will improve the physical agility, mobility, strength, posture, muscle tone, eye-hand coordination, and over-all well-being of seniors safely and methodically. The exercises employ standing and chair routines, the use of resistance bands and hand-held weights. Each program includes warm-ups and cool-downs, as well as stretching and breathing to relax. Thoroughly ‘user friendly’ and strongly recommended for personal workouts, the “Healthy Aging: It’s Never Too Late” trilogy can be acquired as separate DVD volumes, but community center and community library exercise DVD collections should acquire the complete trilogy for the benefit of their patrons.” — Midwest Book Review

What is the GOAL of health care reform? Specifically what are we trying to achieve?

July 24th, 2010 -- Posted in Diabetes | 9 Comments »

I’ve stated before that our nation doesn’t seem to know what the h3ll it wants for health care reform. So what do we want?

Do we want insurance coverage for those without insurance?
Do we want everyone to have the identical coverage?
Do we want a single payer?
Do we want coverage for preexisting conditions?
Do we want to reduce the per capita cost of health care?
Do we want to reduce the cost of health care as a % of GNP?
Do we want to reduce birth rates?
Do we want to provide abortion?
Do we want encourage euthanasia?
Do we want to reduce the expense of providing health care to the baby boomers?
Do we want to provide "basic" health care?
Do we want to provide "quality" health care?
Do we want track the lives of every citizen form conception to the grave?
Do we want everyone to pay into the health care system?
Do we want only the wealthy to pay for a health care system?
Do we want rationing of health care?
Do we want to cover everything?
Do we want choice or limits

bellowed about. If we are to believe the President’s goals, he wants everyone to be insured and we will have a choice. If we like our plan and our doctors, we stay where we are. If we choose to change, he wants us to have a competitive choice of health care providers with various plans and costs. Definitely no insurance company will have a right to refuse someone insurance because of an existing health condition.
I think the idea of a single payer plan is dead–people are not in favor of it.

No abortion in the plan, no euthanasia, no "pulling the plug on granny", no one loses their health insurance because they lose their job. Your insurance goes with you. I like the idea of having a computer source on your health history: operations, medications, health problems, allergies, so if you are hurt (in the U.S. or overseas), they can treat you without risk.

Rationing health care? That is not the intention–cutting out duplication of tests because we go to several doctors who practice defensive medicine is the objective. How we are going to pay for this? This all has to be worked out, but thank you for raising the questions in a logical way, questions everyone has on their minds.

Needless to say, we all have to learn more about this, and we will when the Congress and Senate comes back in the fall. The Town Hall meetings did not enlighten us at all–just showed the fear and erroneous information out there.
