does anyone know any good relaxation techniques?

December 9th, 2009 -- Posted in Relaxation | 5 Comments »

I’m auditioning for a musical and I get really nervous right before I sing, does anybody know any instant relaxation techniques or something else that can help calm me down?

Quick Relaxation Techniques

As you become more experienced with how the body relaxes, some quick methods of relaxation may be useful. This exercise describes several "quick-release" techniques which can be done almost anywhere.

But first, here are some pointers that apply to all the exercises that follow:

* Get as comfortable as possible. Some of these exercises can be done while waiting in the doctor’s office or at some other time when there is nothing to do but wait. It is not necessary to lie down to do them.

* Remain passive. Just watch your mind work. Whatever thoughts come to mind are okay. Do not work at it, just let it happen.

* Take note of all sounds in the environment and let them pass.

* Focus inward on breathing as a natural, easy process.

WHOLE BODY TENSION:

Tense everything in your whole body; stay with that tension, and hold it as long as you can without feeling pain.

Slowly release the tension and very gradually feel it leave your body.

Repeat three times.

VISUAL IMAGERY:

Open your imagination and focus on your breathing.

As your breathing becomes calm and regular, imagine that the air comes to you as a cloud – it fills you and goes out. You may imagine the cloud to be a particular color.

EYE FIXATION:

With your head level and your body relaxed, pick a spot to focus on (eyes are open at this point).

When ready, count five breaths backward. With each breath allow your eyes to close gradually.

When you get to number one, your eyes will be closed. Focus on the feelings of relaxation.

COUNTING TEN BREATHS BACKWARDS:

Allow yourself to feel passive and indifferent, counting each breath slowly from ten to one.

With each count, allow yourself to feel heavier and more relaxed.

With each exhale, allow the tension to leave your body.

SHOULDER SHRUG:

Try to raise your shoulders up to your eyes.

Hold for the count of four.

Now drop your shoulders back to a normal position.

Repeat three times.

SHOULDER ROTATION:

Rotate your shoulders back, down and around, first one way, then the other.

Do one shoulder, then the other.

Now do both at the same time.

Note: This is also good for back, arms, and neck.

CAT S-T-R-E-T-C-H:

Stand – feet slightly apart.

Take a deep breath as you stretch arms over head.

Slowly exhale as you lean forward, bringing arm and head down.

Do slowly and gently five times.

MEDITATION:

Alone in a quiet place, get as comfortable as you can. Then focus on a repeated word or phrase such as "calm" or "let it go," silently reciting it with each exhale. Let other thoughts, feelings and images drift away. Practice for 10 to 20 minute sessions.

ACTIVITIES AND HOBBIES:

A warm bath, good book, or soothing music are excellent ways to counter stress. In fact any hobby which absorbs your undivided attention will help you attain peace of mind.

Are there any relaxation or calming techniques that can be used before a performance?

December 9th, 2009 -- Posted in Relaxation | 1 Comment »

So I’m going to be in a play tomorrow for my school; but the thing is, I have anxiety and i noticed while practicing that i get extremely nervous…like, my heart starts pounding really fast and my voice gets really shaky. So I was wondering if there are any calming or relaxation techniques that I could use to help me stay calm so I don’t have a panic attack on stage. Any websites or video links would be helpful! Thanks so much (:

Yes, there is a powerful technique named creative visualization to get
a greater inner strength and physical energy, an immediate calming status and focus on your goal.
Visualization involves taking some time to relax your mind { usually a few seconds}, and then following this by vividly imagining yourself doing the perfect performance-and doing this on a regular basis allows you to pre program your performance , Use the power of your imagination.I know that what you will attract more of what you are focusing on, so its important to focus on success.I know because I practice creative visualization about 30 years on everyday basis and I wish I would have $1 for each my realization in any field I wanted., in any subject, small or huge including my health. So, now answering your question , you benefit from first hand authentic information.
I’ll give you an example how this works. When you think about running , as you sit in your chair, or lay in your bed,{ it is impossible to think only in words. Any thought is escorted by an image}, you will be accessing the muscles in your legs.
Learn about this wonderful technique from Internet but finally choose any technique you feel comfortable with, the main point remains the same, to imagine in your mind what you want to perform, exactly how you want to be. Putting a bit emotions in this and you’ll be on your path to realize it. For sure.
Also Breathing correctly is important for dispelling the toxins and wastes from your body; in fact, it is estimated that we expel only about 30 percent of toxins in our bodies through the bowels and bladder-the rest is all respiratory. Breathing is also a great way to clear your mind, boost your energy, and improve your mood. Practice deep, slow, rhythmic, breathing daily with mind-body disciplines
Good luck

Tell me plan of experiment that allow to check what effect relaxation has on ur posture on your blood pressure?

December 9th, 2009 -- Posted in Relaxation | 2 Comments »

Please answer this today if possible. A plan including safety precautions and evaluation, fair test, reliability etc.. which allows you to check what effect does your posture and relaxation have on your body.

I’m thinking you need to do your own homework.

In Males, what happens after orgasm that causes such relaxation?

December 9th, 2009 -- Posted in Relaxation | 18 Comments »

The calmness that comes right after orgasm, what causes it? A friend and I were debating it, he claims the testosterone levels go down which make you calm, but I would think your testosterone level would stay pretty consistent, and that relaxation/calmness is caused by something else.

Could be a combination of many things. For one, you have just released your orgasm, your heart rate slows down a bit more. A series of endorphins and hormones are released that fill your body with pleasure. At the same time, the sweat on your body begins to cool, cooling down your body. Your muscles all over your body relax. Hope that helps a bit.

McCain Health Plan Has Underlying Illness.. It’s a TAX INCREASE?

McCain Health Plan Has Underlying Illness

http://www.thestreet.com/story/10441142/1/mccain-health-plan-has-underlying-illness.html?puc=googlefi&cm_ven=GOOGLEFI&cm_cat=FREE&cm_ite=NA

Sen. John McCain (R., Ariz.) has promised to revolutionize the U.S. health care industry if elected president by ending the current employer-based tax subsidy and offering the subsidy instead to individuals. His plan would cost about $1.3 trillion over 10 years, according to the nonpartisan Tax Policy Center.

McCain says his plan would be revenue neutral — so he would have to make cuts or raise taxes to pay for it. His chief policy adviser, Douglas Holtz-Eakin, says the plan would pay for itself by cutting costs. But in reality, the health care proposal could place baby boomers and seniors in danger of no coverage or substandard coverage.

McCain’s health care plan would have several unintended consequences. Those people still receiving health care from their employers would have to pay taxes on those benefits. Individuals could avoid the tax by rejecting employer-based health care and purchasing their own coverage in the open market. The tax subsidy would work out to $5,000 for a family and $2,500 for an individual.

However, it currently costs much more to buy insurance. Kaiser Health Care Foundation estimates that the cost of a health care plan runs about $12,680 for a family and $4,704 for an individual for 2007, and costs are set to rise 5% for 2008. That’s a significant shortfall.

McCain argues that competition would result in lower prices. He would remove state restrictions on health care, creating a national health care market where companies compete on a much larger scale. Consolidation and competition could cut some costs. However, the savings would have to be dramatic because his plan isn’t adjusted for inflation or higher future health care costs.

$12,680
$5,000
——-
$7,680

That means we’ll have to pay taxes on the difference of $7,680

Isn’t this in fact a tax increase?
Liberal AssKicker you are a boldface liar. Please provide evidence Obama ever said there would be a fine.
wierdeyes2000: in the short term it would save money the government $$$. But what about the difference that you and I will have to pay taxes on?
MSB: It’s amazing you clue into a false claim by McCain. Will you please provide proof that obama intends to fine mothers with children.
Some Fact Checking for the propagandists

All the experts have already put pencil to paper and the answer is that Obama’s plan is not only more solvent (would cost less in the long run) but it will also ensure health care for the larger majority of Americans.

MSB: Obama’s details have been put out there for all to see. You don’t acknowledge for political reasons not for practical reasons.

Will North America be crushed under the weight of the ageing Baby Boomer Bulge?

December 9th, 2009 -- Posted in Diabetes | 9 Comments »

The vast majority of the huge Baby Boomer generation are now in their 50′s & 60′s. In the next 20 yrs they will represent a huge Seniors population requiring vast amounts of Health Care and other economic support structures. Not to mention there is simply not a younger population group to balance off this buldge.

Will the US and Canada be able to shoulder this tremedous economic and social shift.

I dont know – its going to be an interesting dynamic when they all leave the workforce. At the very least it will make the top jobs less competitive and easier to get into good employment because it will be the employers being desperate rather than the workers.

Question in relation to health care/laboratory supplies distribution companies?

December 9th, 2009 -- Posted in Diabetes | 1 Comment »

Hello,

Has anyone started a small health care/laboratory product distribution company. As you know the health care/ and the laboratory supplies industry product distribution is to a great extend controlled by big companies. However i believe that there is a possible market out there, especially with the growing numbers of baby boomer and diseases. I am still just think a bout the concept and just started doing some market research, i have a very long way to go. But i was wondering whether there is anyone out there that has been in my shoes before and now has a small company running within a few provinces/states. I just would like to know how were you able to find a supplier that had no distribution in your area. And possible if you can give your prospective of how i should start this.

Thank you,

I have started working at home selling health care plans but not supplies. I have seen a big success with this. I am not sure about your area but in mine there are a lot of people without insurance for various reason. Some can not afford it some have been turned down for medical reasons etc… and with our plan NO ONE is turned down, there is no deductible, no preexisting conditions, no copay etc.. because it is a discount plan. Also some people have medical insurance but do not have dental or vision and we offer that also. If you are interested in checking out the plans visit

Why do Seventh-day Adventists live longer than everyone else?

December 9th, 2009 -- Posted in Diabetes | 4 Comments »

I found this article on US News & World Report that says we should follow the example of Seventh-day Adventists if we want to live to 100 (step number 8 out of 10 steps). I’ve read something similar in the National Geographic magazine. Is it true? How come? What is your opinion about it?

I’m SDA so I’ll tell you what I know based on my own lifestyle, our church and also I saw a National Geographic segment about it too.

First, many of the SDAs (almost all of them actually) believe their bodies are temples and do not drink alcohol, do drugs or eat unclean meat (check out Leviticus to find out that only land roaming animals that have a split hoof and chew their cud, fish that have fins and gills and certain birds including turkey, and chicken, are the only clean meats). They also as a whole are some active people, hiking, camping etc being out in nature getting fresh air and moving their bodies helps keep them in shape and able to live longer. One of the other very important facts is that once a week they take an entire day and rest. They don’t go shopping that day, or work, they just spend it with family studying the Bible, being in nature, just something where they’re taking their minds off the world. This helps. It helps to have a long and healthy lifestyle when you are able to relax once and a while.

I should also mention that a lot of Adventists are also Vegetarians. It’s not required or looked down on if someone decides not to be one, but with all the hormones in meats and the unhealthy things that the animals are eating the vegetarians are avoiding by not eating meats.

What is the state of health care for the elderly?

December 9th, 2009 -- Posted in Diabetes | 6 Comments »

Has it changed because of the large aging population of the baby boomers? Has it changed to deal with individuals with dementia?
wow…uh, not the U.S. state… but the condition it is currently in

Not very promising. There’s huge profits medicating old people. Doctors give out prescriptions to deal with illness issues, but they don’t try to cure you.
